When we were kids my brother gave me his
Minolta 201 camera, some lenses and a nice camera bag. Along with that came
an explanation of exposure, f stops and film speed. He made it all make
sense. I grabbed some film and after a couple of rolls I finally ended up with a
decent shot.I used the camera so much, I eventually wore it out and sold it for parts. Years later I finally upgraded to some decent digital cameras: Canon S80, G9 and Nikon D80. My close associations with Forensic Specialist Lynton Clark and Photojournalist & Commercial Photographer Nancy L. Ford has allowed me to experience these vastly different disciplines of photography up close. Lynton is always eager to share his vast knowledge of forensic photography. Working with Nancy and witnessing her pursuit of capturing emotion in her images is nothing less than amazing. The constant critique and encouragement I receive keeps me on my toes and driven to broaden my horizons. Photography helps me to see details in life that I may have ordinarily taken for granted. It is a tool to explore simple, everyday objects I may have otherwise overlooked such as a face, a flower, or a building. It is a search to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. And it's not always the object itself that is the object of my curiosity, but the lighting, shape and feel of whatever catches my eye. joe.mezzanini@gmail.com theMezz.com 315-238-3628 |
